Please note that "Available for Pre-Adoption" means they are ready to be reserved, but not ready to go home. This is usually because they haven't been fixed yet, aren't of appropriate weaning age, etc. If one of these kitties interests you, please fill out our adoption application. After the first steps of the adoption process are completed, we can set up a time for a meet and greet (unless the cat is recovering from surgery or medical reasons).
ADOPTED Karla - now living in NH!
Quiet and sweet... that's Jenny. This beautiful, petite girl would prefer a calm home where she can blossom. Jenny can be reserved at times but loves gentle pets and will butt her head against your hand for more attention. She has a beautiful personality. We just know that once she settles in with her new family, she will become so bonded with them.
This sweet girl has been through so much. She was neglected by her owner and as a result, she was infected by mange bacteria. She was then tossed on the streets in Egypt. After that, she lived in the animal shelter for three years, waiting for a home. Jenny is so hopeful for her fairytale ending. She wants to be spoiled and treated like the queen she is. She is a beautiful, sweet girl. She has the brightest, piercing yellow/green eyes and a gorgeous white coat. Quite common with Persian mixes, she might have occasional staining, irritants, and tearing due to her smooshed face, so her new family needs to be prepared to clean her eyes as needed. Jenny is spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines.
We are accepting applications for Jenny! Families with approved applications can come out to visit. After this point, she will be available for adoption. We encourage you to go ahead and submit your application if you are interesting in adopting her. Jenny arrived on April 30th with three other cats from Egypt.

Gender: Female (SPAYED)
Breed: Persian Mix Color: White Approx age: 4 years old Temperament with people: Sweet, gentle and very quiet Temperament with cats: Jenny tolerates other cats. She usually doesn't interact with them and minds her own business. Temperament with dogs: Not tested here, but living in kennel around and/or with dogs at previous shelter. Jenny will be fully vetted and healthy by the time she is adoptable, but she has been through so much stress and transition so we cannot guarantee future health with her for this reason. Also, her specific breed (Persian mix) are more prone to issues and can be high maintenance. To be considered for Jenny, Piggy or Ozzy, you must have experience with long haired cats (preferably Persian type breeds) and familiar with the extra care (grooming, eye/face cleaning etc.) they might need.

Are you looking for an exceptionally sweet, cuddly and calm kitty? One that will sleep on your lap for hours and make biscuits? If so, then Ozzy is for you! He is so incredibly gentle and will climb in your lap and just purr. He is a big, fluffy boy and is absolutely beautiful! He has gorgeous blue eyes and a lush, thick coat. He is a couch potato and loves to just lounge around in the sun. He LOVES being brushed and will just fall asleep during a grooming session! His brother is Piggy, and although they don't have to go together, that would be amazing if they could! Ozzy LOVES dogs - as you can see from the photo, he is best buds with our dog!

Fern is a super playful and interactive kitten. She is always trying to do "sneak attacks" and is very mischievous. She is quite a funny kitten - she will entertain herself by dragging cat toys and large dog toys out of the basket and tossing them around/chasing them like a dog! She's rather nuts but in a cute way! Lol. Fern has been with us since November because we really needed her to stay with us for a while longer so we could focus on her "social skills"! She had single kitten syndrome but is doing a lot better now with that and is so incredibly friendly and social. She still has some of those single kitten syndrome behaviors - she doesn't sit still for very long (isn't a lap cat unless she's already sleepy!) and can be a little obnoxious, so needs a lot of entertainment and someone that can give her tons of attention and not frequently leave her at home unsupervised for long periods of time. She loves playing with her cat toys, especially catnip and the noisy plastic balls. She is also super sweet and loves cuddles and kisses. She has a very loud purr box that doesn't have a "down volume", and she's super funny and cute. Fern was found in a dumpster in New York and was in terrible condition, but she is all better now and ready to find her forever home! She is absolutely beautiful and we suspect she is a Nebelung mix (long haired Russian Blue), but this is just a guess. She has a beautiful coat and is an adorable ball of fluff. She is a super petite cat and is small for her age.
We are guessing Fern was weaned too early and didn't have appropriate exposure to other cats during the important socialization stage. Because of this, she is extremely hyper around other kitties and they do not tolerate this at all. She should go to a home where she can be the only cat. Fern gets along great with our Shih Tzu, so we think she would be fine in a home with dogs. No young children - part of the "single kitten syndrome" behaviors is that she doesn't understand the right cues and can be overly playful (getting under your feet, etc.). She demands a lot of attention, and her new family needs to be patient with her as she hopefully grows out of these behaviors. She would love to be the queen of the household! Fern's adoption fee is higher than our standard fee as her vetting has been $1,000+ at this point. She was in terrible condition with a bunch of health issues, but she has come a long way and is very healthy now! |
Fern is spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped and has received her first round of kitten shots.
Gender: Female (SPAYED) Breed: Nebelung mix Color: Blue Approx age: 6 months old Temperament with people: Very social, playful & friendly Temperament with cats: Fern is very hyper around other cats and should be the only cat. Soot is just about the cutest black kitty you'll meet. He has bright green eyes and a beautiful glossy coat. He is very sweet and has come a long way from the little shy kitten we originally rescued. Soot and his siblings & mama were found living underground in a sewer type hole in horrific conditions. It took a bit of time to get the babies to trust us, but now they are all very friendly and have their own individual personalities! Soot is a BIG mush and has such a sweet and docile personality. He is very laid back and mellow. He has a lovely purr and a gorgeous, bushy tail. He is a very large boy and is still growing! He has a beautiful silver/chocolate undercoat and beautiful, striking eyes. Soot was very shy when I trapped him, but after lots of love and patience he is quite the lovebug now. He is still nervous around new people but has come a long way. He loves curling up on the couch and tapping you with his wispy paws. He will also "hug" you, and it's absolutely adorable - he comes up from behind and wraps his paws around your face! Soot is just the best boy.

Gracie has an interesting story. She was found by a Good Samaritan, crying on a high limb in a tree next to the train tracks. She was posted in a local Tennessee Facebook group, and no one claimed her. The kind lady that picked her up couldn't keep her due to landlord not allowing cats, so she had to be placed asap. We stepped in to foster her. Gracie is one of the sweetest kittens I have ever come across. She follows our little dog, Annie, around everywhere and is obsessed with everyone she meets. She will lick your forehead and head butt you for attention. She is QUITE the little spunky girl and has so much personality in that tiny body of hers.
